Burkina Faso Honors Thomas Sankara in Military Tribute Ceremony

Ouagadougou: The president of the High Council for Communication (CSC), Louis Modeste Ouedraogo, affirmed on Thursday, during the second military tribute ceremony to the father of the Burkinabe Revolution, that Sankara 'is not dead' because he lives in each of us. "Thomas Sankara is not dead, he lives on in each of us, who are mobilized today to pay tribute to him," said the head of the media regulatory body, Louis Modeste Ouedraogo.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the mobilization around the progressive and popular revolution led by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, aims to perpetuate the memory of a hero who fought all his life for the sovereignty and dignity of Africans. Mr. Ouedraogo spoke on Thursday in Ouagadougou, during the second military tribute ceremony to Thomas Sankara, presided over by his institution.

He encouraged participants to support the Memorial's activities by contributing to the "My Brick for Thomas Sankara" initiative, aiming to make the site a place that retraces the country's political history and serves as a memorial for all African peoples.

The Minister of Culture, Arts, and Tourism, Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo, for his part, emphasized the symbolic significance of the site, which houses the remains of Captain Sankara and his twelve companions. Minister Ouedraogo stressed the importance of collective commitment, stating that the Memorial's success depends on everyone's involvement.

The ceremony, marked by moments of reflection, took place in the presence of Burkinabe officials and delegations from brotherly countries of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).
