Burkina Faso Government Unveils 2026-2030 “Recovery Plan” Aiming for Major National Development

Burkina faso: The Burkinabe government adopted, on Thursday during a cabinet meeting, a new national development framework called the "RE-LANCE Plan" for the period 2026-2030, valued at 36 trillion CFA francs. This plan aims for major objectives, including the complete reclamation of the territory, the reduction of the poverty rate from 42% to 35%, and the tripling of energy capacity, according to the cabinet meeting report.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Council adopted a decree adopting the "RELANCE Plan", which thus becomes the new national development framework for the period 2026-2030. Valued at 36,000 billion FCFA, the "RELANCE Plan" will mobilize nearly two-thirds of its financing from sovereign resources, indicated the Minister of Economy and Finance, Dr. Aboubakar Nacanabo.

The "RELANCE Plan," as outlined by Minister Nacanabo, is structured around four fundamental pillars: the consolidation of security, social cohesion and peace; the refounding of the State and the improvement of governance; the development of human capital; and the development of infrastructure and the structural transformation of the economy.

Through the implementation of this new development framework, the government aims, among other things, to fully reclaim the territory, reduce the poverty rate from 42% to 35%, improve life expectancy from 61 to 68 years, and triple energy capacity from 685 MW to over 2,500 MW, he explained.

According to the Minister of Economy, this plan must be considered a plan for all Burkinabe. Its success will depend on community mobilization and rigorous annual evaluations, he emphasized.
