Burkina Faso Government to Inspect Undeveloped Plots in SONATUR Ouaga 2000 Zone

OUAGADOUGOU – Starting August 1, the Burkinabe government will begin an operation to inspect undeveloped plots in the SONATUR Ouaga 2000 zone, with a focus on enforcing development commitments.

According to Burkina Information Agency, A press release from the Ministry in charge of the Economy announced that the operation aims to identify plots that have not been developed according to their purchase agreements within the National Urban Land Development Company’s (SONATUR) sites in OUAGA 2000. During the operation, technical teams will visit the area to assess the extent of development and compliance. Plot owners are required to be present on their land with proper documentation proving their ownership. Following the inspection and a three-month grace period, any plots found to be bare or insufficiently developed will be subject to reclamation in accordance with the law. This initiative follows findings from a 2017 study indicating significant underdevelopment in the area, with 32.77% of residential and only 45.24% of commercial plots developed.
