Ouagadougou: The Burkinabe government has announced a suspension on the organization of beauty pageants across the national territory as they work on implementing new regulatory texts. This decision, communicated through a statement published on Monday, aims to ensure the events are regulated more rigorously and harmoniously in the future.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism released the communiqu, signed by the Minister in charge of Culture, outlining the development of new regulations. The statement emphasized that this measure is part of a broader effort to preserve, promote, and enhance the national cultural heritage in line with the principles of the Popular Progressive Revolution.

The communiqu further explains that the initiative seeks to uphold Burkinabe cultural identity, moral and social values, as well as the ethical principles and human dignity foundational to the society. Signed on June 8, 2026, the order specifies that no authorizations for organizing beauty pageants will be granted during this transitional period.

The ministry, led by Pingdwend Gilbert Oudraogo, will ensure strict compliance with this directive, focusing on cleaning up and structuring the sector while safeguarding and promoting national cultural values.
