Ouagadougou: The Director of Cabinet of the President of Faso, Captain Martha Céleste Anderson Dekomwin MEDAH, handed over electric vehicles to the Minister of Economy and Finance, Aboubakar NACANABO, for use by members of the Burkinabe government.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the electric vehicles, valued at over one billion FCFA, were donated by Li YUBAO, Chairman and CEO of Yunhong International Group and Special Advisor to the President of Faso. His representative, Wei YANG, stated that the vehicles have a range of 500 km and are intended to reduce harmful gas emissions, protect the environment, and lower fuel and maintenance costs. This donation aligns with the President of Faso’s initiative to decrease the state’s standard of living.

In March, the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, announced plans to allocate electric vehicles to government ministers to cut state operating costs. Captain Martha Céleste Anderson Dekomwin MEDAH emphasized the importance of eco-friendly vehicles for envir
onmental preservation and population health, particularly in urban areas.

Li YUBAO responded to the President’s call by donating 53 electric vehicles, with around thirty already delivered and the rest expected soon. Captain MEDAH praised the partnership between the private sector and the state as beneficial.

The Burkinabe Fund for Economic and Social Development is working with a start-up to establish an industrial unit that will assemble electric vehicles locally by 2025. The Minister of Economy and Finance, Aboubakar NACANABO, affirmed the government’s commitment to using these vehicles to reduce state expenses and protect the environment.
