Ouagadougou – Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, the spokesperson for the Burkinabè government, confidently announced on Saturday in Saint Petersburg, Russia, that the war against terrorism in Burkina Faso is approaching its final stages. This assertion is backed by the increased capabilities and commitment of the country’s Combatant Forces.

According to Burkina Information Agency, who spoke with TASS during the International Culture Forum in Saint Petersburg on November 18, 2023, the government believes that the conflict will soon be minimized. “The enemy will have no space to flourish in Burkina Faso,” he declared. Ouédraogo, who also serves as the minister in charge of Culture, noted that the tide of fear has shifted in Burkina Faso. The Defense and Security Forces, along with volunteers for the defense of the Homeland, are better equipped and prepared to take the offensive. He highlighted the significant support these forces receive from the majority of the Burkinabè people, aiming to conclude the war that has been thrust upon the nation.

Furthermore, Ouédraogo expressed optimism about the current situation in Burkina Faso. He mentioned the growing hope among the populace as internally displaced people begin to return to their areas, which have been reclaimed. The army and the citizens are aspiring for a decisive victory in this conflict.

The minister also referenced the sentiments of the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, who has consistently affirmed the country’s capability to win this war, despite it being imposed on the current generation.
