BARSALOGHO — Following a devastating terrorist attack in the commune of Barsalogho in the Center-North region, the Burkina Faso government on Sunday urged citizens to stand united in support of the nation’s defense and security forces.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, the attackers aimed to inflict maximum civilian casualties, targeting vulnerable populations including women, children, and the elderly. Speaking from Kaya hospital, where many victims were being treated, Mr. Ouédraogo emphasized the government’s commitment to defeating the terrorist threats facing the country.
The minister, alongside key government and military officials, visited the injured to convey solidarity on behalf of President Ibrahim Traoré and to acknowledge the efforts of healthcare workers who have been critical since the onset of the attack. The government delegation reaffirmed its dedication to providing all necessary support for the victims’ recovery and underlined a message of unity and resilience in the face of terror.
Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo expressed a strong belief that the people of Burkina Faso, rallying behind their military and security apparatus, would overcome the terror that seeks to destabilize the nation.
