Burkina faso: The Burkinabe Prime Minister, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, indicated on Friday that the development of human capital is at the center of his government's priorities in 2025, stating that 28.34% of the State budget is devoted to it.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this budget allocation has enabled preschool and primary structures to benefit from more than 2,500,000 minimum schoolbag kits, nearly 1,900,000 new textbooks, and specific support for more than 25,000 vulnerable and disabled students.
Furthermore, the exclusive use of local products in community-run canteens has been strengthened, and nearly 3,500,000 meals have been served, added Prime Minister Ouedraogo.
The head of government was speaking on Friday, January 30, 2026, during his address on the state of the nation to the members of the Transitional Legislative Assembly (ALT).
The training curricula and course materials have been revised, including the generalization of introductory courses, the teaching of English in all classes, the gradual introduction of information and communication technologies (ICT), and the institution of civic and patriotic training.
These investments will enable Burkina Faso to acquire new skills, boost its productivity, innovation, and economic growth, while preparing young people for more skilled jobs, Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo emphasized.
In technical and vocational education, the head of government indicated that centers of excellence, vocational training centers specializing in agri-food processing, as well as training hubs in heavy equipment mechanics and industrial maintenance have been established to support the mining and defense sectors.
On the educational front, 45 vocational training programs, 20 training and certification frameworks, and 49 technical and vocational teaching and training manuals have been developed, he specified.
As part of the national renewal process, which places youth at the heart of building a more united and resilient Burkina Faso, 910 children participated in the Faso Mªbo summer camp in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso.
In addition, more than 59,000 new high school graduates benefited from training related to entrepreneurship, civic values, patriotism, civic engagement, and geopolitical issues, among others.
