Burkina Faso: Fixed-Term Contracts Limited to Two Renewals

Ouagadougou: The Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Protection, Mathias Traore, announced that fixed-term contracts in Burkina Faso will now be limited to two renewals. This decision aligns with the newly adopted draft Labour Code, as confirmed during the Council of Ministers meeting.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the minister emphasized that the limitation on renewals of fixed-term employment contracts with the same worker is intended to prevent exploitation and address the significant job insecurity associated with such contracts. The new regulation aims to create more stable employment conditions and reduce the precariousness linked to the repeated use of fixed-term contracts.
