Burkina Faso Fire Brigade Honors 58 for National Service

Ouagadougou: Fifty-eight agents and partners of the National Fire Brigade (BNSP) were honored on Thursday by the institution for their commitment, dedication, and determination in service to the Burkinabe Nation. The ceremony took place in Ouagadougou and saw the recipients decorated with the Order of the Stallion, the Burkinabe Order of Merit, military medals, firefighters’ medals of honor, and the Combatant’s Cross.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the commander of the BNSP, Colonel Daba Naon, emphasized that the decorations recognize the merit of personnel who have selflessly served the nation for many years. He noted that the distinction also reflects the Brigade’s appreciation for private and state companies that have supported the Brigade by providing essential equipment, thereby enhancing the intervention capabilities of public emergency and firefighting services.

Colonel Naon highlighted the importance of contributions from both legal and natural persons in improving the working conditions of firefighters, stating that such support is crucial in saving lives and providing assistance and relief to the population. The ceremony was held following the celebrations of Independence Day and Army Day, which occur on November 1st and December 11th, respectively.

During the event, Colonel Daba Naon expressed his hopes for health, prosperity, and longevity for the staff, and wished for the return of peace to Burkina Faso by 2026. Lieutenant-Colonel Hamidou Tietiembou, one of the honored recipients and the director of training at the BNSP, expressed gratitude for the recognition, viewing it as an invitation to further serve the Burkinabe nation. He extended congratulations to the country’s authorities and his superiors, acknowledging that this recognition would inspire the beneficiaries to intensify their efforts.

The National Fire Brigade, established on March 7, 1979, primarily focuses on rescue and emergency assistance, particularly during fires, accidents, and risk management.
