OUAGADOUGOU — The government of Burkina Faso has approved a tax exemption on the production of wheat flour, corn, sorghum, and other locally produced cereals. This move is part of a broader effort to support the industrial processing of local agricultural products, according to a statement released after the Council of Ministers meeting on Thursday.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Aboubakar Nacanabo, the exemption will help strengthen the country’s social protection system while promoting industrialization. The government, led by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, is prioritizing agro-sylvo-pastoral production to address recurring cereal deficits and enhance the development of Burkina Faso’s food industry.
