Ouagadougou: The Catholic faithful of the Saint Andre le Grand University Parish of the Rotonde celebrated Easter on Sunday in a spirit of prayer, marked by calls for peace, forgiveness, and living together. In his homily, Father Philips Zongo, administrator of the parish, indicated that the resurrection of Christ carries a message of hope for a world plagued by multiple crises.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Father Zongo emphasized that Christ's death and resurrection are acts of love meant to inspire a world of peace and forgiveness. He invited the faithful to cultivate forgiveness, reject violence, and work towards social cohesion. The priest also highlighted the importance of sharing, noting that it extends beyond material goods to spiritual acts that should guide actions towards the most vulnerable and destitute.
Present at the Easter Mass, the government delegation, led by the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts, and Tourism, Pingdwende Gilbert Ouedraogo, conveyed a message from the Head of State and the Prime Minister. "Easter is the victory of good over evil, the victory of light over darkness," declared Ouedraogo. He urged the people of Burkina Faso to reconsider their behaviors and abandon negative aspects of their lifestyle to become new citizens contributing to a peaceful nation.
For Viviane Tiendrebeogo, a devout Catholic attendee, the celebration's main message was a call to let God dwell in hearts, emphasizing that inner peace is the foundation of social peace. She urged Burkinabe people to live in fraternity and solidarity, transcending differences. Andre Florent Ouedraogo echoed similar sentiments, encouraging sharing and mutual support, especially during this festive season, and expressed hope for the return of peace to Burkina Faso.
