Burkina Faso Discusses Security and Terrorism with Russian Deputy Defense Minister

Ouagadougou – Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, held discussions with Colonel General Iounous-Bek Bamatguireïevitch Evkurov, the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, focusing on military cooperation and counterterrorism efforts.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting addressed pivotal security issues as part of the Deputy Minister’s visit, which coincides with the working visit of Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, and his delegation. Colonel General Evkurov, who was promoted in 2019, had prior engagements with Nigerien authorities discussing defense cooperation, cybersecurity, and energy sectors before arriving in Burkina Faso.
