Burkina Faso Director General of Customs Lauds Collaboration with Security Forces Against Illicit Trafficking

Ouagadougou: The Director General of Customs, Divisional Inspector Yves Kafando, praised the effective collaboration between the Directorate General of Customs (DGD) and internal security forces in combating illicit trafficking and cross-border threats during a courtesy visit to the Minister in charge of Security, Mahamadou Sana.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting, which took place in a spirit of collaboration and mutual trust, focused on topics such as the implementation of Regulation 14 and strengthening cooperation between customs and the security ministry's structures for enhanced territorial security. The Director General expressed satisfaction with the effective implementation of Regulation 14, highlighting its positive impact on the customs administration's performance. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the DGD and internal security forces in fighting illicit activities.

Minister Mahamadou Sana expressed gratitude to Burkina Faso customs for their unwavering commitment alongside defense and security forces. He commended the officers for their efforts and extended condolences to the families of the deceased. The minister also praised the DGD's initiative to keep customs offices operational seven days a week and its efforts in institutional communication.

Despite challenges in implementing Regulation 14, Mr. Sana acknowledged the progress made with support from stakeholders, including neighboring countries like Benin, Togo, and Ghana. These advancements have positively impacted human security, infrastructure, customs revenue, and road transport. The minister urged customs officials to continue collaborating with other control bodies and commended the cooperation between customs officials and the National Police's association of female personnel. He offered congratulations and encouragement to all customs administration agents for fulfilling their core government missions.
