Burkina Faso Delegation Advocates for Mobilization of Domestic Resources at Africa-India Conclave


NEW DELHI—The Burkina Faso delegation at the 19th Africa-India Conclave, held from August 19 to 22, emphasized the critical need for African countries to intensify efforts in mobilizing domestic resources to achieve sustained economic growth across the continent. The delegation was led by Minister of Economy and Finance, Aboubakar Nacanabo, who participated in a panel discussion on financing models for Africa’s growth.



According to Burkina Information Agency, Minister Nacanabo acknowledged the significant contributions of traditional financing models, including multilateral and bilateral cooperation, financial markets, the private sector, and innovative mechanisms such as public-private partnerships. However, he underscored the importance of self-financing through domestic resource mobilization as essential for achieving sustained and sustainable growth.



The Burkina Faso delegation also included the National Coordinator of the Public-Private Partnership Unit and the Director of Bilateral Cooperation. Additionally, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, the Minister of Digital Transition, and the Minister Delegate in charge of regional cooperation attended the conclave.



During their visit, the delegation held discussions with Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on bilateral cooperation between Burkina Faso and India, focusing on the digitalization of tax systems. They also met with the Director General of Exim Bank to review ongoing projects financed by the institution and explored prospects for financing new initiatives, with commitments made to enhance cooperation and project implementation.
