Burkina Faso Customs Officers Encouraged to Join Popular Shareholding Initiative.

Ouagadougou: The Deputy Director General of Customs, Joseph Ouédraogo, has urged customs officers to actively participate in popular shareholding as a means to foster endogenous development. Speaking on Tuesday, Ouédraogo emphasized the importance of community entrepreneurship in reinforcing economic growth and strengthening community ties.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Ouédraogo highlighted the commitment of the General Directorate of Customs to support development initiatives prioritizing national interests and community well-being. He stressed that customs, as a key player in public resource mobilization, has a crucial role to play in promoting economic self-sufficiency and supporting initiatives like popular shareholding.

Ouédraogo’s remarks were made during an awareness session on the community entrepreneurship program, organized by the Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC). He encouraged his colleagues to understand the program’s objectives and actively participate b
y investing in community businesses, which he believes is vital for Burkina Faso’s economic recovery.

Clémence Zoundi, the Director of Community Entrepreneurship Promotion, addressed the customs staff at the event, expressing appreciation for their dedication to the mass subscriptions. Zoundi emphasized the need for collective investment to mobilize funds necessary for the country’s development, creating opportunities for young people, and working towards peace.

As part of his commitment, Ouédraogo himself subscribed to the community entrepreneurship program, which was launched on June 12, 2023, under the leadership of President Captain Ibrahim Traoré. The initiative aims to revitalize economic activities across Burkina Faso.
