Koudougou: On May 11 and 12, 2025, Koudougou hosted the celebration of International Nurses Day, under the theme 'Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies.'
According to Burkina Information Agency, this national event paid tribute to the dedication of Burkina Faso's nurses. The program included direct care and awareness-raising on first aid for accident victims, an aerobics session at the Place de la Nation, and thematic conferences to promote the nursing profession.
The Governor of the Centre-West region, Adama Jean Yves B©r©, who hosted the ceremony, praised the commitment of these professionals, highlighting their essential role in public health and the economy. He called for improvements to their working conditions and support for their professional development. The representative of the President of the National Council of the Order of Nurses of Burkina Faso, Souleymane Sawadogo, recalled the importance of this day and the challenges facing the health system, calling for better recognition of nurses. He expressed concerns about nursing training.
As for the event's sponsor, the head of the Lall© canton, he insisted on the need to guarantee good working conditions and continuing training for nurses.
These two days of commemoration thus served to draw attention to the importance of the nursing function but also and above all to seek to surround nurses with all the care in order to better promote their function.
