OUAGADOUGOU — In a vibrant display of Burkina Faso’s cultural and tourist heritage, local photographers showcased their work in Ouagadougou, aiming to revalorize Burkinabe customs through the art of photography. The exhibition, aligned with the International Day of Photography, featured images from four key tourist sites across the country.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the organizer of the photographic hike that led to this exhibition, the showcased photos were captured at the National Museum, the Water Museum, the Women’s Museum, and the granite sculpture site of Laongo. These sites were selected to highlight the diverse cultural landscape of Burkina Faso and encourage a deeper appreciation among the local populace.

The event not only celebrated the creative talents of both professional and amateur photographers but also emphasized the significance of photography in promoting tourism and cultural heritage. Mr. Ouoba expressed his hope that the 30 selected photos would spark curiosity among the Burkinabe people and inspire more visits to these cultural landmarks.

Looking forward, Mr. Ouoba announced plans to create an image bank from the hike’s photographs and to organize an evening to recognize the contributions of photographers who have dedicated their efforts to documenting and promoting Burkina’s heritage.

In total, 62 photos were presented in the exhibition, marking a significant effort to document and celebrate the nation’s rich cultural heritage through the lens of its own citizens.
