Burkina Faso Bolsters Healthcare with Deployment of Mobile Hospitals

Ouagadougou: Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ou©draogo handed over four mobile hospitals to Major General C©lestin Simpor©, the Minister of State and Minister of War and Patriotic Defense. This initiative aims to enhance medical care for both wounded soldiers in conflict zones and civilians, as observed by AIB.

According to Burkina Information Agency, these state-of-the-art mobile hospitals are expected to significantly improve the treatment of wounded soldiers by bringing medical facilities closer to the front lines. "The objective of having mobile hospitals of this type is to significantly reduce the time it takes to treat our wounded combatants. This will ensure them better chances of survival," stated Prime Minister Ou©draogo.

Prior to the handover, Prime Minister Ou©draogo and medical commander Daouda Sawadogo conducted a guided tour of the facilities. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the modern capabilities of these mobile hospitals, which include a mobile operating block equipped with comprehensive medical tools, including those for oxygen production and distribution.

Medical Commander Sawadogo noted that these mobile hospitals, also known as field hospitals, can be swiftly deployed in emergencies or disasters across Burkina Faso. "This is equipment that can be deployed in case of emergency or disaster, as quickly as possible, to any part of Burkina Faso in order to provide medical assistance and participate in the surgical and medical care of patients," he explained.

Each of the four hospital modules comprises two vehicles with distinct roles: one for imaging and medical exploration, capable of performing CT scans and X-rays, and another housing an operating room for rapid medical tests. This configuration allows for effective urgent care for the injured.

This is the second delivery of mobile hospitals, with the first having occurred in March 2025. The initial delivery facilitated field experiments, leading to recommendations that have been incorporated by the manufacturer to better meet the country's needs, as noted by the medical commander.
