Ouagadougou: The "Burkimb Da Yimi Koudoumeye" association organized the 3rd edition of 'Kaamba Woubri' in Ouagadougou, focusing on instilling social values in children. The event emphasized traditional practices such as greetings to chiefs, family dinners, and respect for parents, alongside guidance for young girls contemplating marriage.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event saw the participation of Hamidou Paul Bamogo, representing the Minister of Culture. He conveyed greetings from the minister and commended the organizers, linking the celebration to the vision of Burkina Faso's President, Captain Ibrahim Traore, which prioritizes children as the cornerstone for the nation's future. Bamogo highlighted the inseparability of culture from development, urging the youth to heed the wisdom of customary authorities and cultural custodians.
The association's spokesperson, Wayalgin Naaba Wend-Pouire, explained that "Kaamba Woubri" translates to educating children to honor elders and community values. The initiative aims to reinforce the Moogho Naaba's call for parental commitment to culturally-rooted child education.
Concluding the event, the association reaffirmed its dedication to cultural education in a pledge to the Minister of Culture's representative. This pledge details the association's educational activities grounded in cultural heritage.
Kabre Cheik, a fifth-grade student from Boudyam School, shared his takeaway from the event, emphasizing culture as a key to success. He encouraged his peers to practice respect towards parents, elders, and the community to earn their blessings.
