Burkina Faso Association Brings Holiday Cheer to Orphanage Residents

Ouagadougou: An association known as the Leo Club Ouagadougou Reflet has made a significant contribution to the Hotel Maternel orphanage in Ouagadougou by distributing food and gifts to the children as part of its Christmas solidarity initiative. The event, held on Tuesday, aimed to show support to the residents during the holiday season.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the activities organized by the Leo Club included a launch ceremony, a community meal, and the distribution of gifts and food to the orphanage residents. Philippe Diala, president of the Leo Club Ouagadougou Reflet, emphasized that the initiative was meant to demonstrate the club's solidarity and love for the children, ensuring they feel supported and remembered during the festive season.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Diala highlighted that the organization provided rice, gifts, and toys to the orphans. The Director General of the Hotel Maternel orphanage, Sibiri Gansore, expressed deep gratitude to the donors for their generosity, noting that it brought much-needed relief to the children. "I am happy on behalf of the children, because I am with them. If the children are happy, I share in their joy," Mr. Gansore stated.

He further explained that while the orphanage receives government support, it cannot function independently and called for more public and organizational support, emphasizing that even words of encouragement serve as a vital source of motivation for the care of the children.

The Leo Club Ouagadougou Reflet plans to continue its Christmas solidarity efforts until December 31, 2025, by providing hot meals and food kits to vulnerable families. Through this initiative, the club, which engages young people aged 18 to 30, aims to bolster the spirit of solidarity and volunteerism while contributing to improving the living conditions of children and vulnerable groups alongside the government and social partners.
