Ouagadougou, December 3, 2023 (AIB) – The Burkinabè army successfully carried out an aerial operation against terrorists who were planning to attack a convoy on the Kaya-Dori axis, as reported by security sources to the Burkina Faso Information Agency (AIB).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the incident occurred on December 3, 2023. The terrorists, reportedly discontented with the increasing number of land convoys deployed by the Combatant Forces to aid local populations, had plotted an attack on a convoy traveling along the Kaya-Dori route. The attackers, originating from Pensa, headed towards National Road number 3, converging at Ouintokuilga where they joined another group.
As the terrorists gathered under trees making final preparations, they were unexpectedly struck by a missile that accurately targeted a group seated under a large tree. A second group, believing they had evaded detection, concealed themselves in bushes with their motorcycles and supplies. However, they too were hit by a missile, resulting in the explosion of their ammunition and several terrorists perishing in the flames.
Survivors attempted to flee the scene, some on foot and others on motorcycles, abandoning their injured comrades. However, their escape was short-lived as attack helicopters, arriving unexpectedly, neutralized all remaining individuals.
This decisive action by the Burkinabè army ensured that this group could no longer pose a threat to the peace of the populations on the Kaya-Dori axis or elsewhere. Operations continue on various fronts as part of the ongoing efforts to regain territorial integrity in the region.
