Burkina Faso: Anti-fraud Coordination Unit Seizes Prohibited Goods Worth 846 Million

Ouagadougou: The National Coordination for the Fight Against Fraud (CNLF) presented on Tuesday, during a press briefing, prohibited products with a total value of 846 million FCFA seized between June 11 and 22, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the national coordinator for the fight against fraud, Dr. Mohamadi Compaor©, indicated that his agents seized fraudulent goods worth a total of 846 million FCFA between June 11 and 22, 2026, in the city of Ouagadougou as well as in the provinces of Sangui© and K©n©dougou.

Dr. Compaor© specified that on June 11, a truck carrying 890 cartons of illicit herbicides and 220 bags of fraudulent detergent, worth 28.29 million FCFA, coming from a neighboring country, was intercepted in Laba, in the province of Sangui©.

He also indicated that on the night of June 21, CNLF agents, through the Western Investigation and Research Brigade (BERO), thwarted a major smuggling operation by intercepting a truck fraudulently transporting 50 tons of fertilizer, estimated at 42 million FCFA, from the Orodara area.

In this regard, the head of the CNLF revealed that the Burkinabe Society for Agro-Pastoral Inputs and Materials (SOBIMAP) is the only entity authorized to import fertilizers into Burkina Faso, in order to guarantee rigorous control of this dual-use product and to preserve national security imperatives.

Dr. Mohamadi Compaor© finally reported that his organization brought a halt, on the night of Monday, June 22, 2026, to the "industry of decay and death" in Karpala, in the city of Ouagadougou, by seizing psychotropic substances and high-risk drugs, consisting of 63 packages of Tramaking 225 and 250 and Tapentadol Royal 250 mg, with a total value of 756 million FCFA.

During a visit intended to present to men and women of the media the goods seized and stored in Karpala as well as at the Ouagadougou railway station, the national coordinator of the CNLF and his collaborators praised the bravery of the agents who thwarted the maneuvers of the traffickers and recovered these prohibited products.

'These are not just goods that we intercepted last night. These are the lives of young Burkinabe and the national economy that we saved. This Tramaking and this Tapentadol were intended to destroy our youth, to alienate our able-bodied people and to fuel the economic crime that undermines our development efforts,' he argued.

Dr. Compaor© reminded everyone that offenders will be punished in accordance with the laws in force in Burkina Faso and urged the population to collaborate with the National Coordination in order to put an end to illicit trafficking in the country.
