OUAGADOUGOU – In a significant move to bolster its workforce, the government of Burkina Faso has announced the recruitment of 4,534 agents through professional competitions for the 2024 session. This decision was disclosed in the latest Council of Ministers meeting held this Wednesday.

According to Burkina Information Agency, received by the Burkina Faso Information Agency (AIB) on Wednesday, the government has approved this substantial recruitment drive. The primary objective of these recruitments is to uphold the right to promotion for all public officials who meet the necessary conditions as defined by the current regulatory texts. Additionally, this initiative is designed to address the current shortage or absence of human resources essential for fulfilling the various missions of the public administration.

The move to recruit such a significant number of agents underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of its public services. By facilitating the right to career advancement for eligible public servants and addressing gaps in the workforce, the initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the functioning of the public sector in Burkina Faso.

This announcement marks a crucial step in the government’s efforts to strengthen its administrative capabilities and improve service delivery across various sectors, aligning with its broader objectives of public sector reform and development.

YAMOUSSOUKRO – The Palancas Negras of Angola secured a victory against the Stallions of Burkina Faso with a 2-0 win on Tuesday evening at the Charles Konan Bany stadium in Yamoussoukro. This win in the third match of Group D at the CAN 2023 ensured their position as the group leader.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the game commenced with the Stallions adopting a calm approach, gradually engaging in tactical play against the Palancas Negras. Despite several attempts, the Stallions faced challenges in finishing, with notable technical shortcomings. The first significant move from Burkina Faso came in the 25th minute when Issa Kaboré, assisted by Aziz Ki, attempted a goal but missed as the shot went over the crossbar.

Against the run of play, Angola’s Cristovao Pacienca scored the first goal with a header following a well-executed free kick in the 35th minute. After the halftime break, the Stallions, compelled to play offensively, replaced Cédric Badolo with Cheick Djibril Ouattara. However, the Angolan team maintained tactical discipline and posed dangerous counterattacks. Dango Ouattara of Burkina Faso, facing physical limitations, missed a scoring opportunity against the Angolan goalkeeper in the 56th minute.

The match concluded with Ambrozini Antonio Cabaça Salvador scoring the second goal for Angola in the 90+4 minute, sealing the fate of the already weary Stallions. Notably, the team from Bournemouth, England, did not manage a cross or a shot on target during the match.

Following this defeat, Burkina Faso finished second in Group D and is set to face the first team of Group E, either South Africa or Mali, in Khorogo on January 30. In a surprising turn of events in the same group, Mauritania achieved a notable victory over Algeria with a 1-0 score, thereby qualifying for the second round and simultaneously eliminating the Fennecs.
