OUAGADOUGOU – Burkina Faso’s Minister of Culture, Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, recently emphasized the strength and transparency of the cooperation between Burkina Faso and Russia. His remarks highlight a significant diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
According to Burkina Information Agency, During an interview with RT, a Russian television channel, on the sidelines of the 9th International Cultural Forum in Saint Petersburg, Minister Ouédraogo expressed that the relationship between Burkina Faso and Russia is not only close but also characterized by honesty and transparency. This statement reflects the Burkinabè government’s perspective on its diplomatic ties with Russia.
Minister Ouédraogo underlined that the diplomacy between Burkina Faso and Russia is straightforward and aligns with what the Burkinabè people seek. He emphasized the absence of duplicity in the relations, pointing out the mutual support that goes beyond pretense or hidden agendas.
The cooperation between the two countries extends beyond military aspects, as highlighted by the minister. He noted that Burkina Faso and Russia also collaborate in the health sector, exemplified by a recent Russian mission to Burkina Faso as part of the fight against the dengue epidemic.
Furthermore, Ouédraogo acknowledged Russia’s agricultural prowess, indicating that Burkina Faso intends to draw inspiration from Russian practices to enhance its own agricultural sector. He also mentioned the shared vision between the two nations, including a mutual stance against domination and imperialism, factors that he believes bring them closer together.
The culture minister concluded by appreciating the leadership qualities of the heads of both states, emphasizing their vision, personality, and responsibility. He believes this dynamic is a growing trend that only needs further consolidation.
This cooperation comes at a time when Burkina Faso, like many other African nations, is exploring diverse international partnerships to address various national challenges and developmental goals.
