Burkina Faso and Russia Forge Strategy to Penetrate Global Markets Together

OUAGADOUGOU — In a significant diplomatic move, Burkina Faso and Russia have joined forces to develop a shared strategy aimed at expanding their footprint in global markets. This initiative was discussed in detail between Prime Minister Dr. Apollinaire Kyélem de Tambèla and Russian Ambassador Igor Martynov in anticipation of the upcoming Economic Days of Burkina Faso in Moscow.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the discussions, which took place in Ouagadougou, were centered on the preparations for the Burkina Faso Economic Days Abroad (JEB), scheduled from October 8 to 11, 2024, in Moscow. Ambassador Martynov underscored the readiness of both nations to bolster economic, military, and diplomatic ties through this high-profile event.



Prime Minister Kyélem emphasized the strategic significance of Russia as a partner and advocated for increased Russian corporate presence in Burkina Faso. Additionally, he proposed the establishment of a direct flight route between Moscow and Ouagadougou and expressed a desire for Burkina Faso to join the BRICS group to enhance its role in international trade.



The Russian diplomat reaffirmed his country’s commitment by supporting the construction of a civil nuclear power plant in Burkina Faso, a project that promises to strengthen energy cooperation between the two countries. Both parties expressed satisfaction with the progression of their bilateral relations and their eagerness to further deepen these ties through strategic and economic collaboration.
