Burkina Faso and Niger Pledge Continued Support to Mali Following Tinzawatène Attack

BAMAKO — Representatives from Burkina Faso and Niger extended their condolences and reaffirmed their commitment to support Mali in the aftermath of the recent terrorist attack in Tinzawatène. This show of solidarity was presented during a visit to Bamako where both nations emphasized their resolve to combat terrorism.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Niger’s Minister of Defense, the visit aimed to convey the support of Presidents Abdourahamane Tiani of Niger and Ibrahim Traoré of Burkina Faso to the Malian people. General Mody stressed the importance of a united front among the member states of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) to fight terrorism effectively. The delegation, which included Burkina Faso’s Minister and government spokesperson, Rimbtalba Jean-Emmanuel Ouédraogo, met with Malian Head of State, Colonel Assimi Goïta, at the Koulouba Palace.

Minister Ouédraogo highlighted the visit as a testament to the solidarity and unity among the Sahel states. He articulated a shared destiny among the peoples of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, emphasizing a collective struggle against terrorism. “We leave with reassuring messages, above all an intact determination that we must transmit to our respective heads of state in Niger and Burkina Faso,” Ouédraogo concluded, signaling a robust partnership within the AES framework.
