OUAGADOUGOU — The President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, met with Belgian Ambassador Jean-Jacques Quairiat, who is concluding his four-year tenure, to review and discuss future cooperation between the two nations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the discussions underscored a mutual commitment to maintaining and enhancing the partnership. Ambassador Quairiat highlighted the recent signing of a new four-year cooperation agreement, which will extend from 2023 to 2027, focusing on entrepreneurship and healthcare initiatives, including significant support for the Tenkodogo mother-child center in the Center-East region. The ambassador expressed satisfaction with his tenure, noting meaningful engagements with both political figures and civil society actors in Burkina Faso, and shared his anticipation of taking cherished memories from his experiences.

This partnership includes allocations for humanitarian aid, reflecting both countries' dedication to addressing immediate needs while fostering long-term development projects. Ambassador Quairiat emphasized the calm and constructive dialogue that has characterized the bilateral relationship, aimed at resolving any differences and promoting the interests of both the Burkinabè and Belgian populations.
