Meknes: The Ambassador of Burkina Faso to the Kingdom of Morocco, Mamadou Coulibaly, inaugurated the Burkina Faso Ambassador’s Cup on Saturday afternoon in Meknes, emphasizing the event’s role in fostering solidarity and fraternity among Burkinabe nationals residing in Morocco.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Mamadou Coulibaly highlighted the importance of the Cup for Burkinabe students and trainees far from home, noting that such initiatives are vital in creating a supportive community. “We see that former students are helping newcomers. I encourage you to continue in this direction. Many of you are here because it is important to you to promote the values of sport, which are well-being and clearing the mind, essential things today for working well and later in life,” Coulibaly stated.
The Ambassador further urged Burkinabe students and trainees in Morocco to utilize the sporting event’s benefits, acknowledging their dedication to academics and cultural initiatives. He wished all participating teams success, emphasizing the spirit of fair competition.
The tournament will unfold in two phases, with the initial stage starting this Saturday, featuring teams from cities in Zone A, such as Rabat, Meknes, and Fez. Zone B teams will compete on April 12 in Ben Guerir. The tournament will culminate in a Grand Final in Rabat on April 27, where four girls’ teams will vie for the title of best women’s team. Additionally, a basketball competition will involve teams from Rabat, Tetouan, and Oujda.
The event is co-sponsored by Fabr© Camara, the Ambassador of Mali to Morocco, and Benzouina Brahim, President of the Partnership and International Cooperation Commission at the Casa Settat Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services.
In a related development, Ambassador Coulibaly recently made a financial contribution to Burkinabe students and trainees in Morocco, supporting their efforts during the National Days of Patriotic Commitment and Civic Participation. The Association plans to host “Burkimbila Day” on May 3 in Kenitra, to celebrate Burkinabe culture and promote Burkina Faso.
