Burkina Faso Aims for Infrastructure and Housing Expansion by 2025

Ouagadougou: Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo announced on Friday during his presentation on the situation of the Nation that by 2025, Burkina Faso plans to complete nearly 102 km of paved national roads, more than 66 km of urban roads, rehabilitate 92 km of roads, and develop 697 km of rural tracks, in addition to several crossing structures.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Prime Minister Ouedraogo emphasized the importance of opening up isolated areas as a strategic lever for socio-economic development and territorial integration. The government has already made significant progress in its infrastructure projects, including the commissioning of three modern toll plazas in Tintilou, Boudtenga, and Kotedougou.

In his address, Prime Minister Ouedraogo highlighted ongoing projects such as the construction of the Ouagadougou-Bobo-Dioulasso highway and the impending launch of several other road paving projects. Urban planning and housing are also key priorities, with the creation of over 18,800 plots of land across multiple localities and the construction of over 1,300 housing units.

The Prime Minister also mentioned major real estate projects such as the Zafara Plaza complex, which demonstrate a commitment to urban modernization. Looking ahead to 2026, the government aims to build at least 1,000 social and affordable housing units as part of the National 50,000 Housing Program.

Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo also discussed the "Faso Mªbo" presidential initiative, which seeks to involve citizens directly in developing towns and villages. This initiative is set to be expanded across all regions by 2026 to improve access to isolated areas, reduce logistical costs, and enhance territorial integration. These initiatives underscore the government's focus on leveraging infrastructure as a central pillar for Burkina Faso's economic and urban transformation.
