Burkina Faso Advances Health Sector with Digital Transformation Initiative

OUAGADOUGOU — Dr. Issa Ouédraogo, the Secretary General of Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Health, emphasized the pivotal role of digital transformation in achieving the ministry’s objectives during the first ordinary session of the 2024 e-Health committee in Ouagadougou. The session, which took place on Thursday, focused on integrating digital technologies into the health sector to enhance efficiency and meet future challenges.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the digital transformation is essential for realizing the Ministry of Health’s vision and objectives. The e-Health committee, formed to guide this transition, is reviewing various digital health interventions and the current state of digital initiatives within the sector. “Digital transformation constitutes a lever for achieving the vision of the Ministry of Health,” Dr. Ouédraogo stated during the session.

The committee’s two-day meeting involved discussions on the challenges and prospects for digitizing health services, ensuring a coherent and sustainable transformation. Participants also evaluated the ministry’s existing digital health environment and assessed the progress of significant ongoing digital health projects.

This initiative represents a strategic move to bolster healthcare delivery in Burkina Faso, focusing on innovation and sustainability in response to both current and future healthcare needs.
