Ouagadougou: One hundred and six students, including officers and commissioners recruited through both direct and professional entrance exams, along with trainees from Togo, Mali, and Niger, received their insignia as students of the Police Academy after completing 94 days of basic military training. Among these, 18 recruits from the direct entrance exams also swore allegiance to the flag.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the trainees of the 11th class, admitted on October 18, 2025, successfully completed the requirements of basic military training, which included weapon handling and the acquisition of fundamental technical and tactical knowledge. The presentation to the flag marks the end of their initiation into military life and constitutes a pact between them and the Nation, ensuring their commitment to serve at all times.
The flag symbolizes unity and sovereignty, embodying the values expected of Burkinabe citizens, particularly integrity, loyalty, and patriotism. The Director General of the National Police, Thierry Dofizouho Tuina, emphasized the symbolic nature of the presentation, which highlights the recruits' patriotic commitment and understanding of their responsibilities.
The Director General stated that this ceremony marks the beginning of a new phase focused on intellectual and professional development. He urged the trainees to maintain diligence, discipline, and rigor during their ongoing training, reminding them of the demanding nature of police work and its basis on republican values.
He highlighted the importance of discipline as the foundation of any security force and expressed the national police's high expectations from these recruits, considering the security challenges in the country. He concluded by arranging to meet them in the field, where they will contribute to combating terrorism and urban crime, addressing the population's security needs, and wishing them success in their training.
