Burkina-Egypt cooperation: Farewell from the Egyptian ambassador to the Prime Minister

The Prime Minister, Dr. Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem de Tambèla received in audience, this Wednesday, October 11, 2023 in Ouagadougou, the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Ibrahim El Khouli who is at the end mandate.

After spending three years at the head of Egyptian diplomacy in Burkina Faso, Ibrahim El Khouli came to say goodbye to the Head of Government. The Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ibrahim El Khouli, during the discussions, affirmed his country’s desire to support Burkina Faso in all areas. ‘Egypt always stands alongside the Burkinabè people in assuming their choices and also supporting their process of development and stability,’ he said.

And to specify that the Egyptian Government continues to accentuate its bilateral cooperation in several areas, in particular the upcoming opening of the airline EgyptAir to reach Cairo and Ouagadougou, the continuity of the training of executives and support in its stability efforts on the extent of the territory.

As part of the fight a
gainst terrorism, the Egyptian diplomat revealed that his country contributes to training imams and muezzins from Burkina Faso so that they preach true Islam, and to training the Defense and Security Forces. He also indicated that at the level of higher education, his country grants unlimited scholarships to Burkinabè students.

After three years spent in Burkina Faso as Ambassador Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Ibrahim El Khouli noted that his ‘relations with Burkina Faso do not end’ with his departure, but that it has only just begun .

And the ambassador continued: ‘I always remain a Burkinabè advocate, a plea for the rights of the Burkinabè people to regain their security, their stability in their economic and social development.’

In addition, he said that he enjoyed working with the Burkinabè people, their authorities and that he has very good memories of his time in Burkina. Mr. Khouli explained that Egyptian diplomacy ‘is continuity. When you go to a country, you always have good memor
ies and you come back again.’
