Burkina: Deputy Chief of Staff of the Gendarmerie Comforts Fighters from Gorgadji and Manni

Ouagadougou: The Deputy Chief of Staff of the Gendarmerie, Colonel Issa Yaguibou, visited the Gorgadji and Manni detachments to comfort the men engaged in the national theater of counter-terrorism operations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Gorgadji and Manni detachments, located in the Sahel and East regions, respectively, were visited by Colonel Issa Yaguibou on Saturday, January 4, 2025. He was accompanied by a delegation aiming to express full support from the country’s highest authorities to the personnel deployed on the front lines.

In both Gorgadji and Manni, the Deputy Chief of Staff engaged in discussions with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP). These meetings allowed him to observe the realities on the ground and gather the concerns of the personnel.

In Manni, the delegation also met with customary and religious authorities and other local resource persons. They expressed satisfaction with the efforts made to secure the population. These exchanges provided the delegation with an opportunity to share command’s directives for ongoing operations and important information concerning the Institution and the nation.

The fighting forces reaffirmed their commitment and determination to effectively combat terrorism. The delegation included prominent figures such as the commander of the Special Intervention Unit of the National Gendarmerie (USIGN), Captain Sampawend© Robert Compaor©, and the head of the Operations Center of the National Gendarmerie (COGN), Captain Fadouba Soura.
