Burkina: Death of Doctor Zéphirin Dakuyo, famous herbalist

Bobo-Dioulasso, One of the leading precursors of the modernization of traditional medicine in Burkina Faso, since 1982, Doctor Pando Zéphirin Dakuyo, bowed out at the age of 68, this Sunday October 15, 2023, in Abidjan in Ivory Coast , where he was evacuated for treatment.

Dr Pando Zéphirin Dakuyo, was born in Massala (in 1955) in Mouhoun (Dédougou).

Owner of the (modern) Pharmacy of Comoé (Banfora), he now has a production unit for around sixty medicines and other plant-based products.

His company Phytofla, which is leading the project, registers 5 drugs with an Authorization for sale from the Ministry of Health. These are Dribala and Saye for malaria, Duba syrup for coughs, Kunan potion for fatigue and Mitraca soap for skin problems.

After his primary studies in Massala, his secondary studies at the minor seminaries of Tionkuy and Koudougou and his baccalaureate at the Collège de la Salle in Ouagadougou, he continued at the Cheick Anta Diop University in Dakar from 1976 to 1982.

‘When we returned a
s a young biological pharmacist in 1982, I was assigned to Banfora, as the first pharmacist of the hospital… It was my first and my last position, because I stayed there until my retirement,’ had -he entrusted to Sidwaya , on July 20, 2022 in Banfora.

Dr Dakuyo leaves behind a widow and 3 children (a boy and two girls).
