Burkina Calls for Newly Graduated Doctors to Bolster Higher Education

OUAGADOUGOU — At a recent graduation ceremony, Professor Jean-François Silas Kobiané, president of Joseph Ki-Zerbo University in Ouagadougou, challenged over 200 new doctoral graduates to contribute significantly to the development of higher education institutions in Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony not only celebrated the achievements of the graduates but also spotlighted the essential role of research in educational advancement. He emphasized the need for a substantial number of teacher-researchers to improve the quality of higher education, particularly when external training opportunities are limited. “Research is a demanding activity, and we need a critical mass of teachers to truly develop higher education institutions,” he stated, addressing both the graduates and the academic community present.
