OUAGADOUGOU — A former terrorist, Kadourou Boly, known as Abdoul-Kalki, has called on his ex-companions to lay down their arms so that Burkina Faso can find peace. The 16-year-old, who was previously an informant and fighter for the so-called Support Group for Islam and Muslims (GSIM), spoke to his former comrades during the 1 p.m. television news on Radio Télédiffusion du Burkina (RTB) on Thursday.
According to Burkina Information Agency, “I am speaking to the terrorists, lay down your weapons. Let’s not destroy our country. I beg you, lay down your arms so that together we can cultivate peace.” He emphasized that the future does not lie in terrorism and invited those still in the ranks to renounce their involvement. Boly argued that terrorism constitutes hell for those who venture into it, regardless of money or weapons.
He called on the terrorists to recognize the manipulation they are subjected to, pointing out that those giving orders are safe and push others to die for ulterior causes. “Those who send you do not die in your place, your fate is hell. So, we must stop the barbarity and let’s build our country together,” he suggested.
Boly was captured by fighting forces on May 1 in the Center-East region as part of the fight against terrorism. His arrest followed exchanges of fire with Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) from Dialgaye in Kourittenga.
