BURGERSDORP – In a significant effort to combat stock theft, the Burgersdorp police have successfully recovered stolen livestock hidden inside an old dam near the township.
According to South African Police Service, On November 25, 2023, the SAPS Burgersdorp acted on credible information regarding sheep concealed in an old dam on a nearby farm. This tip-off led to a coordinated operation involving the Station Commander and the Aliwal Stock Theft Unit. Upon reaching the location, the team discovered 12 sheep inside the dam.
The recovered sheep were positively identified as those stolen from a local farm a week earlier. This successful operation highlights the effectiveness of the police’s ongoing efforts to address the rise in stock theft in the Burgersdorp area. It also underscores the importance of community cooperation in assisting law enforcement agencies in their fight against such crimes.
