BUNGOMA, Kenya — Governor Kenneth Lusaka led the opening of a new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Hopekins Hospital in Bungoma's Township ward, Kanduyi constituency, aiming to bolster the healthcare infrastructure of the county.
According to Kenya News Agency, this addition is set to significantly aid the overstretched health facilities within the region, offering enhanced primary health care services to its residents.
During the ceremony, Governor Lusaka lauded the efforts of Hopekins Hospital in addressing the critical needs of the community, emphasizing the positive impact such developments have on the health sector. "Such efforts are divine and will tremendously impact our health sector," he remarked, highlighting the importance of the new ICU in bridging the existing gaps in the local health system.
Further, Governor Lusaka reiterated his administration's commitment to improving healthcare services across the county. He outlined plans to equip various health facilities with necessary resources to ensure better primary healthcare services for all residents. In addition to healthcare improvements, Lusaka addressed the issue of public land encroachment near Kanduyi stadium. He called on the community to respect court orders and facilitate the expansion of roads leading to the sports facility, a project that is crucial for the upcoming Madaraka Day celebrations scheduled for June 1, 2024.
The governor's call to action reflects a broader initiative to prepare the county for hosting national events and improving overall accessibility and infrastructure. This development not only marks a significant step forward in healthcare provision but also underscores the county's efforts toward comprehensive urban and community development.
