Bandar Seri Begawan: A recent clean-up event in Brunei’s water village has successfully collected over 1,300 kilograms of waste, filling 165 plastic bags across various zones in Kampong Ayer, as reported by local media on Tuesday. This initiative is part of a concerted effort to tackle waste management issues in the region.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the event was organized by Green Brunei and saw the participation of more than 140 volunteers. These volunteers included village heads, students from higher education institutions, and members of local organizations, all coming together to lend their support to the environmental cause.
This clean-up was supported by Brunei’s Ministry of Development, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Brunei-Muara District Office. The initiative aims to address the country’s low recycling rate and contribute to Brunei’s zero-waste goals, highlighting a community-driven approach to environmental conservation.

the largest water village clusters globally. The clean-up efforts underscore the importance of maintaining this cultural and historical landmark while promoting sustainable practices.
