Paris: The recent BRICS summit in Kazan signals a significant shift in global power dynamics, indicating that Western nations no longer hold a monopoly on global affairs, according to Benjamin Haddad, the French Minister Delegate for Europe. Speaking on the LCI channel, Haddad emphasized the implications of the summit, particularly in the context of the upcoming U.S. elections and their impact on European security and transatlantic relations. According to Burkina Information Agency, Haddad underscored the necessity for Western countries to communicate effectively with nations in the Global South, especially regarding support for Ukraine. He highlighted the importance of demonstrating European capabilities in defending their worldview, interests, security, and strategic autonomy. The remarks underscore the challenges Western nations face in maintaining influence amid shifting global alliances. The 16th BRICS summit, held from October 22 to 24 in Kazan, resulted in the adoption of the Kazan Declaration. This key document addresses the development of the BRICS association, its stance on global issues, and the resolution of regional crises, including those in Ukraine and the Middle East. The summit's discussions reflect the group's growing influence in shaping international discourse. Established in 2006, the BRICS group initially comprised Brazil, Russia, India, and China. South Africa joined in 2011, and as of January 1, 2024, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, and Iran have become full members.
