Break-ins mar weekend

WINDHOEK: A woman and her three friends were on Friday robbed after three suspects smashed their car window and gained entrance to the victim’s car at Independence Stadium in Windhoek.

In a crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Sunday, Chief Inspector Elifas Kuwinga stated that while the victims were in their Chevrolet sedan at about 19h45, the three male suspects smashed three windows, gained entry and accosted all occupants with knives.

They drove some meters away from the scene with the victims in the car and threatened them before leaving the victims in the bushes. It is alleged that the suspects drove away with the car plus two cellphones, he said.

The vehicle was later recovered at a Havana dumping site with the battery missing. No arrest has been made yet and police investigations continue, he said.

In a similar incident, unknown suspects on Friday allegedly gained entrance to a victim’s house without the owner’s consent and stole property valued at N.dollars 64 999 at Block G exte
nsion one in Rehoboth.

The incident occurred between 21h00 and 22h00. It is alleged that the unknown suspects gained entrance into the house by breaking an aluminium window. They allegedly stole electronic equipment, clothes and groceries with a total value of N.dollars 64 999.

No arrest has been made and the police investigation continues, he said.

Similarly in Klein Windhoek on Saturday, it is alleged that unknown suspects broke into a complainant’s office and stole items, the value of which is unknown.

The inspector stated that at about 13h00, the suspects broke into the complainant’s office and stole one laptop, one computer screen and one mouse.
