According to Burkina Information Agency, presided over by Prefect-President Madjoa Lompo, the community has embraced thousands of IDPs, providing not only shelter but also opportunities for integration and economic participation. During the 2nd ordinary session of the Boussouma special delegation on July 26, 2024, the assembly reviewed several initiatives aimed at bolstering community resilience and supporting those displaced by conflict.

The meeting, held at the municipal hall, was attended by nearly all members of the special delegation, where they discussed matters ranging from security amendments to local development projects. A notable point of pride for the community has been the completion of a rehabilitation project for a local woman’s house, which stands as a symbol of the ongoing efforts to improve living conditions for all residents.

The special delegation, including the first vice-president, the Songkoglog Naaba Saaga, and the second vice-president, Chantal T. Simporé, underscored the role of traditional customs and the importance of social cohesion in managing societal challenges. They also highlighted several stories of personal triumph, such as that of Moussa Bamogo, a carpenter who, despite the challenges, has found a sustainable livelihood in Boussouma.

While the community continues to welcome new arrivals, the struggle with limited resources remains a significant concern. The Prefect/PDS acknowledged the ongoing burdens posed by the influx of IDPs, particularly in the realms of health, education, and humanitarian aid, stressing that while support is robust, the means to fully satisfy all needs are still lacking.

The resilience of the Boussouma population and their refusal to cede land to insurgent forces were celebrated as vital contributions to the broader fight against terrorism in the region. The local authorities remain hopeful that the strategies implemented will not only sustain the community in the present but will also pave the way for a peaceful future, free from the threat of terrorism.
