Boussé Health District Honors Top Performers in Annual Excellence Event

Boussé, Burkina Faso — The Boussé health district concluded its second annual Day of Excellence with an awards ceremony on Thursday, May 30, 2024, under the leadership of the High Commissioner of Kourweogo province, Siaka Barro. The event was held in Boussé and saw health facilities and personnel recognized for their outstanding service and achievements over the past year.



According to Burkina Information Agency, Dr. Alima Bagagnan/Ouédraogo, the awards were based on several performance indicators including integrated care of mother and child, immunization, and overall health facility performance metrics such as data completeness and timely reporting. Nine health facilities were distinguished for their excellence, with the CSPS of Gonsin taking the top honor in the ‘All indicators combined’ category.



The ceremony, which also featured sports and board games, as well as free health consultations, celebrated the dedication and hard work of health district staff. Certificates of recognition were awarded to various actors for their seniority, commitment, and public service dedication.



The head of the Boussé health district, Adéline Salou/Dabiré, highlighted the significant progress made since the first Day of Excellence held in April 2022. She noted improvements in vaccination coverage, reduction in maternal and infant mortality, and enhanced access to health care among other achievements.



High Commissioner Siaka Barro praised the event as a vital opportunity to acknowledge the daily contributions of health workers to the community’s well-being. He emphasized the importance of a healthy population in achieving national prosperity and stability.



The sponsors of the event, including local dignitaries and former municipal leaders, expressed their appreciation for the ongoing efforts of the health district. The head of the canton of Sao, Naaba Kaongo, spoke on the crucial role health professionals play in the community and the challenges they face.



Looking ahead, Dr. Salou/Dabiré announced the opening of new health centers and the expansion of existing facilities to further improve health services in the region. She also called for continued support and standardization efforts to enhance the health infrastructure, particularly in rural areas.
