Kourweogo: The special delegation of the commune of Boussé held its communal consultation framework to address the pressing challenges of mobilizing revenue to support the communal budget. This meeting, hosted in the Boussé town hall, was the third of its kind, and it saw participation from statutory members, technical services, village development council delegates, and local leaders.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the secretary general of the Boussé town hall, Roland Nébié, highlighted the town’s financial difficulties, noting a significant shortfall in revenue collection. As the year draws to a close, only 57,890,687 CFA francs have been collected against a forecast of 120,304,349 CFA francs, leaving a gap of 51.88% to be filled. The meeting aimed to analyze the obstacles to revenue collection and explore strategies to enhance financial resource mobilization in the short and medium term. Tax receiver Abidine Toé provided insights into the municipal budget process, emphasizing the community’s col
lective responsibility.

Nébié pointed out that certain revenue streams, particularly taxes on carts, tricycles, and street shops, are lagging in payments. Participants concluded that taxpayers need to increase their efforts to help Boussé maintain its urban municipality status. Recommendations included strengthening awareness and coercion efforts, conducting recovery outings in the commune’s 16 villages, and utilizing technical visits for motor vehicle tax collection. They also urged the municipal executive to pursue infrastructure projects like a bus station and a municipal cemetery, complete ongoing development projects, and initiate new subdivisions to curb precarious housing.

Albert Tiendrebéogo, the 1st deputy of the special delegation, called on local opinion leaders to engage with the community, fostering understanding and support for Boussé’s economic and social development initiatives.
