Boulsa: 44,191 children aged 0 to 59 months will be vaccinated against polio from November 13 to 18, 2023, in the health district of Boulsa. This second round of polio vaccinations in the province of Namentenga coincides with the national day of vitamin A supplementation, deworming, and malnutrition screening.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the announcement was made during a meeting with community leaders and media personnel aimed at addressing misconceptions about vaccinations and achieving a 100% vaccination rate. The campaign in Boulsa, the capital of Namentenga in the Centre-North region, is set to provide crucial health measures to young children.

The vaccination initiative is part of a broader health campaign that includes vitamin A supplementation for children aged 6 to 59 months, deworming with albendazole for those between 12 to 59 months, and malnutrition screening through arm circumference measurements for children aged 6 to 59 months.

Religious leaders have also urged the community to
actively participate in the vaccination efforts to ensure its success. Rasmani Zagré, head of the Expanded Programme on Immunization, expressed gratitude on behalf of the district’s chief physician for the community’s commitment to the health initiative.
