Boulgou: The agricultural Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in Niaogho began plowing their site this Wednesday, thanks to equipment provided by the government. The provision of a tractor by the Ministry of Agriculture enabled the official launch of agricultural activities on the ground.
According to Burkina Information Agency, after the site inspection phase, the plowing operations began under the supervision of the Head of the Agricultural Mechanization Brigade, Mr. Adama Sawadogo, and his team. The initiative marks a significant step in mobilizing resources to enhance agricultural productivity in the region.
For the president of the agricultural VDP of Niaogho, Mr. Kouda Adama, this support materializes the realization of their project after their training. He expressed gratitude for the assistance, stating, "We sincerely thank the municipal authorities for their support since our return from training. This tractor made available to us by the agricultural services allows us to quickly develop our land."
For the current campaign, the agricultural VDPs have opted for the cultivation of cowpeas, a legume considered resilient and adapted to the climatic context. The choice reflects a strategic decision to maximize yield potential in challenging environmental conditions.
Through this support in agricultural mechanization, the technical services intend to support local producers in improving production and contribute to achieving food self-sufficiency. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to bolster food sovereignty and ensure sustainable agricultural practices within the community.
