Bittou, Burkina Faso — A significant public health campaign was launched on May 10, 2024, by Mohamed Lamine Diabaté, the prefect and president of the special delegation of Bittou. The event took place at the Urban Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) of Bittou, marking the beginning of the poliomyelitis vaccination and malnutrition screening for children aged 0 to 59 months within the commune.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this campaign, which will run from May 10 to 13, 2024, is expected to substantially reduce cases of poliomyelitis and malnutrition among young children. During the launch, the prefect personally administered the first vaccination drop to a child and measured his arm circumference to assess nutritional status. He emphasized the importance of community support to ensure the success of the campaign and was joined by a delegation of health officials, administrative leaders, and local dignitaries.
