Bougnounou: The Ziro Child Protection Network recently organized an intensive training session in Bougnounou on May 13 and 14, 2025, aimed at enhancing the capabilities of the Communal Child Protection Network (RCPE). This initiative, involving around forty people from varied sectors of society, focuses on reinforcing local capacities in protecting children’s rights and raising awareness in cases of abuse.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the session was spearheaded by the Provincial Network for Child Protection (RPE) in Ziro and facilitated by Jean S©verin Bakala, the rapporteur of the Provincial Network. The training equipped the Municipal Network with essential tools for prevention, reporting, and intervention mechanisms to address potential abuse and neglect against children.
A significant moment of the event was the official installation of the RCPE office by the provincial network coordinator, Adams Davou. This marked a pivotal step in combating violence against children within the Bougnounou commune. The office, comprising five members including a coordinator, vice-coordinator, rapporteur, and two vice-rapporteurs, symbolizes a concerted effort to protect children.
The RCPE integrates representatives from diverse socio-professional backgrounds, ensuring an inclusive and community-centric approach to child protection. Its responsibilities include actively safeguarding children, reporting abuse cases, and collaborating with relevant services for swift and effective intervention.
At the conclusion of the training, participants of the RCPE pledged to consistently report any instances of violence, abuse, or neglect against children within the municipality. “From this moment on, I undertake to report to the competent authorities any case of child abuse or mistreatment that I observe,” declared S©ni Naminata, a participant, expressing commitment to the cause.
To bolster these efforts, Issaka Sambar© has been appointed as the new head of the Bougnounou municipal social service. His role involves collecting complaints, monitoring cases, and ensuring effective coordination with relevant structures for comprehensive responses.
This initiative positions Bougnounou as a proactive community defender of children’s rights, providing a civic bulwark for the protection of its most vulnerable members.
