DÉDOUGOU – The Boucle du Mouhoun region witnessed a significant mobilization on Saturday, February 3, 2024, as its inhabitants gathered to express unwavering support for the ongoing political transition under the leadership of Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the demonstration was a response to a call by the Patriotic Watch Movement of Faso (MVPF), Boucle du Mouhoun section. Residents of Dédougou and other provinces converged in the city of Bankuy, equipped with national flags and symbols of friendly nations, to voice their backing for the transition. The assembly highlighted the community’s collective resolve to support the transition efforts until the full liberation of national territory is achieved.
Participants, including youth, women, men, and the elderly, conveyed a strong message of solidarity with the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). Noufou Ouédraogo, representing the youth, announced the readiness of over a thousand young individuals in the region to enlist as VDP members in defense of the country.
Mouniratou Koura, speaking on behalf of the FDS spouses, expressed gratitude towards the Head of State for significant support provided to the forces engaged in combat. She highlighted the allocation of essential equipment and social measures implemented for the benefit of families of fallen FDS members, expressing hope for a swift end to the conflict.
Salimata Compaoré, president of the MVPF, Boucle du Mouhoun section, underscored the meeting’s purpose as a show of support for the FDS and VDP, emphasizing the importance of community backing in overcoming terrorism and achieving the country’s total liberation. She called upon terrorist factions to cease hostilities and noted the proactive measures taken by Dédougou’s youth, who vigilantly monitor the city’s roundabouts nightly to report any suspicious activities.
The gathering in Dédougou underscores the community’s commitment to the transition process and its support for national defense efforts, reflecting a collective aspiration for peace and stability in Burkina Faso.
